Greece
US$280.6 billion
About the size of Nevada (2025 GDP)
Greece's economy remains well below its 2008 peak of US$351.1 billion, even after US$ GDP rose 9.5% to US$280.6 billion in 2025. Most of that gain was exchange-rate and price effects, not output; real growth was +2.1%. The increase lifted Greece 1 place to 53rd, between Algeria and New Zealand. Services dominate at 67.4% of output, with industry at 15.2%, manufacturing at 9.1% and agriculture at 3.6%.
Debt sets Greece apart: government gross debt stands at 146.6% of GDP. Unemployment ran at 8.5% and inflation at 2.5%. GDP per capita of US$26,948 ranks 53rd of 196, and 56th on a PPP basis at $45,264 international dollars. The economy, about the size of Nevada, ranked 34th in 2000 and has grown 2.2 times in US$ terms since. The IMF projects a +27% rise to US$356.5 billion by 2030, which would lift Greece to 50th.
