Lebanon

US$34.5 billion

About the size of Ann Arbor, MI metro area (2024 GDP)

Lebanon climbed 4 places to 111th, but the gain owed little to output. Real GDP grew 4.0% in 2025, while dollar GDP jumped 32.8% to US$34.5 billion: exchange-rate and price effects make up the difference. Inflation ran at 14.6%.

The economy remains well short of its 2018 peak of US$54.9 billion. Government gross debt stands at 139.4% of GDP, according to the IMF, and the IMF does not publish a forecast for Lebanon in this edition.

GDP per person was US$5,897, 116th of 196, and $11,958 international dollars on a purchasing-power basis, 130th, across a population of 5.8 million. In 2000 Lebanon's GDP was US$17.3 billion and it ranked 75th of 194; in dollar terms the economy is 2.0 times that size today. It now sits between El Salvador and Bosnia and Herzegovina, about the size of the Ann Arbor, MI metro area. The World Bank's latest sector breakdown is withheld here because its shares do not add up.
