Vietnam
US$514.7 billion
About the size of Minnesota (2025 GDP)
Vietnam's real economy grew 8.0% in 2025, almost exactly matching the +8.1% rise in US$ GDP to US$514.7 billion. That held it at 33rd, between Norway and the Philippines. Industry accounts for 37.6% of output, including manufacturing at 24.5%, while services make up 42.7% and agriculture 11.6%. Inflation was 3.3%, unemployment 1.5% and government gross debt 30.5% of GDP.
The longer view is the striking one. In 2000, Vietnam ranked 61st with GDP of US$31.2 billion; its US$ GDP has since grown 16.5 times, and the economy is now about the size of Minnesota. With 101.6 million people, GDP per capita is US$5,066, 124th of 196, though low local prices lift it 16 places to 108th on a PPP basis, at $18,088 international dollars. The IMF projects a +46% rise to US$750.1 billion by 2030, which would move Vietnam up to 30th.
